Me

My name is pronounced like Bog-dan. But some call me Bogie (it has nothing to do with Humprey Bogart, though I wish it would...) (The pic was taken in München's Englischer Garten) And this is how Bogdan is written in Hebrew: . Thanks to Marcus Kober for the gif(t)!

Brief Bio and my Resume

• Between Jun1998 - Jul1999 I worked for Deltasoft Ltd., Brasov, as a Unix system administrator at the ISP departament.

• May 1999 - August 2001: I worked for Hercules Ltd., Brasov, as a network engineer and Unix system administrator.

• August 2000 - September 2001: I've worked for Xeneris Gbr, doing LAMP, besides sys-admining. You can check some of my work for them by clicking here.

• November 2001 - February 2006: Working for Level5 Media GmbH as a Unix/Network/Security System Administrator.A lot of BSD, networking and tuning.

• March 2006 - present: Been hired by Thinking Objects as a Systems Enginner. Doing a lot of consulting work, also some system design, all very cool stuff! Playing with Big Iron is fun!

About my interests

• A PowerMac G4, dual 450MHz, MacOS X powered. "It just works"... same for my 15" PowerBook!
• An HP machine, series 9000/856 E55, with 192MB of Ram, 2x2GB disks (real old and noisy -- you can hear when somebody logs in). Here you can find some Tips & Tricks for HP UX.
• Another HP box, a Piranha A500, dual 440MHz, 2GB ECC-RAM, 2 U2W-SCSI disks. This thing costed $22K in 2002, and prolly worthed every penny I/O-wise. Unfortunately, one can't use it @ home (blows the fuses).
• A Sun UltraSparc2 w/s, with dual 167MHz CPUs, 512MB of Ram and 2SCSI HDDs (4GB and 1GB). Solaris 9 runs perfectly on it (of course, the java-based SMC is still sloooow -- not to mention Oracle 9i or 10g).

  I'm also very interested in programming, especially C/C++, Java, PHP and Assembler .
